Sema

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026

1. What we collect

Account data (name, email, organization), meeting content you upload or that our bot records (audio/video, transcripts, minutes, decisions, action items), and usage/operational data needed to run and secure the Service.

2. How we use it

To provide the Service — transcription, summarization, search, notifications — and to operate, secure, and improve it. We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your meeting content to train third-party foundation models.

3. Sub-processors

We use trusted infrastructure and AI providers (e.g. cloud hosting, speech-to-text, and large language models) to deliver the Service. These providers process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.

4. Google user data & Limited Use

When you choose to connect Google Calendar, Sema accesses your Google Calendar events using the calendar.events scope to identify upcoming video meetings, display them in your dashboard so you can choose which the assistant attends, and append a single link to the AI-generated minutes back to the relevant event after a meeting. We only access calendars you explicitly connect.

Sema's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized AI/ML models — we use it solely to provide the user-facing meeting-assistant features described above.

5. Security

Data is isolated per company, encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, and access is governed by role-based permissions. Recordings are served through short-lived signed URLs. We maintain an append-only audit log of consequential actions.

6. Retention & deletion

Company admins can configure a data-retention policy that automatically purges old meetings, and can permanently delete any meeting (including its recording). You may request export or deletion of your data at any time from Settings.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (e.g. GDPR), you may access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Company admins can export all workspace data, including the audit trail, from the dashboard.
